LPI is an organization with its roots in the Linux community. It was created with the sole purpose of developing a certification program that recognizes the technical skills of Linux professionals. LPI is sponsored and supported by numerous companies and organizations that are interested in promoting the professional use of Linux. These companies include Global Knowledge, Linuxcare, Linux International, TurboLinux, Red Hat, CompUSA, ExecuTrain, Caldera, IBM, SuSE, and others.

This course assumes that you are already familiar with UNIX or UNIX-like operating systems and data networking technology, but that you don't have much previous experience with Linux system administration.
