The International Data Corporation (IDC) reported that in 1997 the market for web-based training was $197 million. By 2002, IDC predicts that web-based training will exceed $6 billion, representing a compound annual growth rate of nearly 95%. And although today classroom delivery is clearly the most common form of training, IDC predicts that within IT, technology-based training (TBT) will overtake instructor-led training (ILT) by the year 2002 (see chart). The key driver behind web-based trainings tremendous growth is technology. As technology continues to evolve at such rapid pace, lifelong learning has become a necessity, not a luxury. The notion that the university degree is where ones education ends is a thing of the past. Welcome to the era of e-learning! |
